June was a busy month!
We took advantage of some time in the Emirates to plan a few road trips. There are 7 emirates in the UAE, and we were able to see 4 in one day! Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah. Although much of the terrain is covered with rolling sand dunes, the areas closer to Oman actually have mountains which contrast with the clear blue beaches. Very beautiful!

| This is a view of the Grand Mosque from the beach near the Souk in Abu Dhabi. The Souk is relatively new but made to look like a traditional Arabic market--lots of jewelry, spices, rugs, etc. We often go there for dinner or drinks! |

| The Monte Carlo beach club on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. Saadiyat is the new "up and coming" destination that boatss an amazing St. Regis hotel, Park Hyatt hotel, golf club, and claims to be building Louvre and Guggenheim museums in the near future. We got a day pass to the beach club (discounted thanks to the heat and a mass exodus of expats during the summer months). It is very glamorous! |

A day trip on the boat to one of the small islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi. We had a great time with some of Jesse's co-workers and their wives--a quick trip from the marina and a picnic lunch on the beach.
